DIG Maqsood ul Zaman reviews Baltal Yatra arrangements, stresses Inter-Agency coordination | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 29 (KNO): Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Maqsood ul Zaman on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting at Baltal to assess security and logistical arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, stressing close coordination among all departments to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said DIG Maqsood ul Zaman, IPS, the overall supervisory officer for security arrangements on the Baltal axis for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, chaired a review meeting of all stakeholders at Baltal. The spokesperson said the meeting was attended by senior officers and representatives from the Police, CID, Army, CAPFs, SASB, Traffic Police, Telecom, NDRF, UTDRF, MRT, Fire and Emergency Services, Civil Administration, Health Department, KPDCL, PHE, RDD and other departments associated with the conduct of SANJY-2026. Police Yatra Officer, Assistant Police Yatra Officer and I/C JPCR were also present. He said detailed deliberations were held on security arrangements, traffic management, disaster preparedness, medical facilities, communication network, sanitation, power and water supply, emergency response mechanisms and overall pilgrim facilitation. The spokesperson said emphasis was laid on close coordination among all departments, effective communication and full preparedness to ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. Special focus was also laid on ensuring pilgrim safety, convenience and adherence to standard operating procedures. He said the success of the Yatra depends on collective efforts and urged all officers to discharge their duties with dedication and professionalism to ensure a safe, smooth and spiritually fulfilling experience for all pilgrims.—(KNO)
